Why this site exists
Buffalo Trace is the rare famous attraction whose own tours cost nothing — and the internet mostly fails to mention the catch, which is that reservations open eight weeks out and evaporate. Travellers find the empty calendar three days before their trip and assume they are out of luck. They usually are not: a dozen Louisville operators hold Buffalo Trace slots inside their day-tour itineraries all season.
Meanwhile, half the guides in the search results still say the distillery is on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail (it left the KDA in 2009) and skip the holiday closure list entirely. Putting the free route and the paid routes side by side, with the hours and the fine print attached, is the entire job of this site.
Where the facts come from

Where an operator states something inconvenient in its own words — a non-refundable policy, a start time that shifts with the distilleries drawn — we quote it rather than smooth it over. Review quotes carry the reviewer's name, country and travel month exactly as published. We do not write testimonials.
What we do not do
We do not ride the tours, meet the guides or audit anyone's pour sizes. Whether the Hard Hat Tour is running on a given morning is a question for the distillery's own calendar, and whether a van leaves on time is a question for the operator you book with.
We also do not take your booking. Every Check Availability button sends you to the platform the operator sells on, where the price, the terms and the cancellation window are theirs. The free official tours are booked on the distillery's own website — we link to no reseller for those, because there is nothing to resell.
How the site pays for itself
Links to paid tours on this site are affiliate links. If you book through one, the platform pays us a commission and you pay the same price you would pay going there directly.
That arrangement pays for the research and nothing else. It does not decide which tours appear, what order they sit in, or what we say about them — and it gives us no reason to talk you out of the free official tour, which we recommend to anyone whose dates allow the eight-week wait.
Corrections
Hours change, brands rotate through allocation and operators retire itineraries. If something here is out of date, write to us and tell us what you found and when you were there. We would rather fix a number than defend it.
